In just two weeks the ILM, the international leather goods fair, takes place in Offenbach. On this occasion, twice a year, the latest collections and designs in the suitcase, bag, luggage and leather goods sector will be presented by various manufacturers.
This is reason enough for us to look for the baggage trends 2016 beforehand. Therefore, we asked some of our suppliers for a few answers and a small preview of upcoming products.
The ILM takes place twice a year, in spring and autumn. At the exhibition grounds in Offenbach, the latest collection of cases, bags and backpacks from about 300 exhibitors from more than 20 countries will be presented. The trade fair is only open to a specialist audience as well as more than 6,000 retailers who can take a look at the latest designs for the next season.
We have provided an overview for you and summarize the most important trends of 2017. There is a strong trend in light weight, flexibility and innovative technical solutions. For example, the CheckSmart: A baggage finder in conjunction with your own Smartphone and a corresponding app ensures that luggage does not disappear without a trace. There are also some trends for backpacks. In addition to the already popular demand of daytime hiking bags and classic trekking bags, the ultra-light trekking bags with a volume of 30-50 liters are high for 2017.
The following also applies to suitcases: high robustness and durability with the lowest possible weight. As a result, suitcases made of polycarbonate are a new standard. In addition, the customers demand a rolling suitcase with an easy, comfortable handling and mainly 4 wheels. Just a normal suitcase with a big volume is not enough for a long time.
